This was the last season of The Flintstones. Up until The Simpsons, no other bright primetime TV note surpassed it in seasons. Here for the last time, Fred (Alan Reed) comes home from work, gathers Wilma, Pebbles (both by Jean Vanderpyl) and Dino (Mel Blanc) into the Flintmobile, later picking up Barney (Blanc), Betty (Gerry Johnson) and Bamm Bamm (Don Messick) from 1965 to 1966. Other characters include the Hopparoo (Messick), the crotchety Mr. Slate (John Stephenson) and a unique character called the Substantial Gazoo (Harvey Korman) . So score this when it finally comes out on DVD, as to phrase Mr. Flintstone from a classic episode “This is the last you’ll gawk of the last of the [original] Flintstones!”

I enjoyed very great the first two seasons. But when I read that Mandy Patinkin had left the expose I was disappointed and concept that was the waste of Criminal Minds. I was so foul! I was truely impressed by this film. I’m not even a boxing fan, but I heard so many superb things, I had to check it out for myself. I was crooked from the puny it began. The film is beautifully shot and edited and the music is both soulful and pumping, like the movie itself which switches from the harsh realities of the sport to the poetic underside. And the women portrayed in Shadow Boxers are so unstereotypical, they are shiny, thoughtful, sometimes silly, unprejudiced and most surprising of all, big boxers, especially the champion Lucia Rijker. These women are not who I expected to recognize when I concept of women’s boxing. I want my daugthers and my son to observe Shadow Boxers because this movie has a clear message that I pick up rare in movies today.

My hat’s off to the director for having the guts to construct a movie with a strong, definite message and to depict these women especially the sparkling knock-out artist Lucia Rijker, with such dignity and power. There is not a used character in this film, and that’s a refreshing change. I know I will never even derive stop to the ring, but after Shadow Boxers, I found myself dancing around my kitchen and throwing punches in the air.

Even if you never have dreams of stepping into the ring, as long as you have dreams of any kind, this movie will inspire you.

Most of the film shows her in matches and the audience sees her astounding strength and focus over and over again, almost feeling those much punches. We can delight in the breakthroughs she and others like her have made and discover that the sport of women’s boxing is growing. For this concept into this special world, the film succeeds. However, I found myself bored. Even a documentary needs dramatic tension and that was lacking here. I couldn’t root for her because it was clear she was winning every fight. And, except for a brief interview with her and her Dutch-speaking mother, we really did not pick up to know her. In this blueprint the film seemed more of a promotional fragment than a documentary.

Ms. Rijker speaks perfect English and expresses herself well. She now lives in Los Angeles but I yearned for some more background. With her gloomy hair and slightly African or Indian features, I found myself thinking about her ethnic heritage and hoped for a few words about that. Basically, I wanted more depth because the highlights of one boxing bout after another unprejudiced doesn’t do it for me. The film is short, only 72 minutes. It needed more time to peer and intrigue. If you are particularly enthusiastic in women’s boxing, you might like this film. But I can only give a lukewarm recommendation to a film that literally achieve me to sleep.

They retract a gloomy character and turn it into a goofy spoof of itself with some generic “Hollywood formula” that usually damages the film with fans and loses the general audience because it changes the character that was apparently successful enough in the first station to be satisfactory of a movie.

Consider for a moment with comical heroes……..

You have the laughable fanbase who know the character and will be dissapointed if you tamper with it.

Then you have the general public who knows dinky about the character and thus have no preconceived expectations.

If you manufacture the character faithful to the funny, the fans will praise it and the general public who have no other expectation will admire it also.

Instead when Hollywood turns a character like Ghost Rider into a campy pale shadow of itself, the fans are turned off and the general public are left wondering… “Why is this character so well-liked”?

Bad box office returns and the rapidly raze of a franchise before it can pick up started.

Ghost Rider STARTED upright on track, but once Cage entered and started his one-liner “Comedy Central” cracks and quirky sarcasm, the movie eroded fast.

The writers seemed to confuse Ghost Rider with the Hulk also……….. Ghost Rider (unusual laughable series) was assert and spoke like a demon with long sermon like preachings when inflicting his wrath…………. this movie version of Ghost Rider grunts and utters Hulk-like sentences like…….. “Ahhhhh You Guilty”

The effects department deserves mountainous accolades for a dazzling job.

They did their portion to build a 5 star film.

But that is a scrape we gawk alot these days……………. films focus on the effects but ignore the stories and character development.

Is the General Public getting that dumbed down today -or- am I objective getting to veteran?

Bottom Line: Other than Eva Mendes’ cleavage, this movie was lovely dead. The dialog was campy and the space was ogle through. Seemed like a place up for a sequel; Label to Studio: Don’t bother. If the director was going for a cheesy kind of amusing book thing, he hit it apt on. The dilemma is that this is a broad camouflage movie - go read the humorous book if you are looking for cheese.

This is the beginning of the third Tenchi series. Tenchi Muyo has a very interested following and may be the most favorite series in Japanese anime. It has agreeable graphics and very safe character development. It is designed for age 13 to adult, and seems to remove the hearts of people of all ages. The series begins with Tenchi leaving home to go to school in Tokyo, and his admirers are not contented about it. Although Tenchi thinks of himself as an ordinary boy of seventeen, he is actually descended from the crown prince of the Planet Jurai. He also seems to attract the affections of heavenly and remarkable women. Through a variety of circumstances a renowned place pirate, Ryoko; and her rival, Aeka, the first princess of Jurai have become house guests at Tenchi’s Father’s home. They are both madly in fancy with Tenchi and constantly fight over him. Since they both bear supernatural powers, these arguments can be quite disruptive; and Tenchi is cheerful to be starting a unique life in Tokyo.

Two recent major characters are introduced in this series — Sakuya a cute classmate, and Yugi a supernatural being of unknown intent.

This series is more stylized than previous Tenchi series in character drawings and actions. Although I recall the style of the previous series, I collect this one quite delectable. There is detached a lot going on gradual the scenes, and the character’s personalities are aloof being explored.

The monsters (I mild don’t understand what they were thinking will cell-phone man) once again remind me of Bishoujo Senshi in tackiness and lack of quality and originality. Furthemore, the music for the ending is an affront against god (unless you actually like japanese-folk-country) . However, this is aloof Tenchi, and Tenchi in Toukyou’s appeal mainly rests in its relation to the rest of the Tenchi universe. If you have to behold all of Tenchi, luxuriate in. The series does come by slightly better, but not enough to warrant purchasing the series. I would have given this DVD one star, but Ryo-Ohki! turns into a expansive, pink mecha, and you have to admit that’s fair kawaii. If I sounded somewhat acidic, it is merely due to the fact that I like Tenchi Muyou, Tenchi Universe, the three movies, and Glorious Sammy, and this was most disappointing.

“Matchstick Men” may not have been a box office success (compare it to the total unpleasant of “National Care For” [Cage's next film] and “Kingdom of Heaven” [Scott's next film]), but it certainly is one of the better-crafted & better-acted films to be associated with either of these men. I was beginning to wonder if Cage could ever recount a performance like what he did in “Leaving Las Vegas.” While his obsessive-compulsive con-man may not be the exertion along the lines of a suicidal alcoholic, he comes stop with the impact he makes on the viewer. This could easily have veered into caricature, but Cage creates a creditable & believable obsessive-compulsive.

Perhaps this could be classified as a comedy, but it has an awfully bittersweet quality to it which makes the movie difficult to categorize with any ease. The characters of Roy & Angela (a very very noble performance by Alison Lohman, who is entirely believable as a 14-year-old) are trusty enough to cause the viewer to have a vested interest in their ultimate fate, as the movie takes numerous twists & turns.

Ridley Scott did quite a first-rate job at crafting a movie that avoids being too determined, and which flows along nicely, maintaining viewer interest throughout. This was a very satisfying film, through & through…I wish these two guys could construct more like this.

A Tex Avery cartoon with two bears trying to establish out a forrest fire. Most of us have seen this one before but due to the smoking in the first scene it is not shown on regular tv anymore.

As for my collection of duke movies it is a most. For the casual fan it’s a rent if u can net it. For six bucks though it is priced legal. Frankly the cartoons better than the movie on this one.

Part 1 - Currahee - Currahee is a astonishing beginning to this unprecedented HBO miniseries. This episode again brings to the forefront the emotions of the soldiers as they again are counted on to effect their mission!

Part 9 - Why We Fight - This episode is clearly the most poignant of the series as Easy Company finds and liberates a concentration camp. Although there had been rumors of these concentration camps, no once could truly comprehend what they were about until they were faced with them! This episode alone should’ve garnered several awards.

Part 10 - Points - Easy Company takes Eagles Nest, Hitler’s mountaintop fortress. The company settles in as an occupation force, yet expecting to be redeployed to the Japanese warfront. A very emotional what happened to several of the units members after the war. Overall, this episode is a astonishing conclusion to the “Band of Brother.”
